RARE MINIATURE PRE-CLASSIC FIGURINE: HEFLIN
What a sweet little lady! Measuring a mere 1 3/8” in height, this hand-modeled miniature female figurine (AXH1403R3N4) was found at the site of Cuautitlan by the late Dr. Allen Heflin. Wearing ear spools, and a headdress with a crescent-shaped object on its top, this rare miniature dates into the unattributed Preclassic Period, c.1200-900BC. In overall very good condition, her little nose is slightly dinged and there are some patches of caliche or mud filling some of the surface depressions. This little treasure comes Elmer-glued to a small display card and is accompanied by both a write-up about the collector and amateur archeologist Heflin along with a map of the Valley of Mexico showing the extent of the lakes that filled it at the time of the Spanish Conquest (the site of Cuautitlan is highlighted on the map).
