LOT OF THREE COSTA RICAN PRE-COLUMBIAN BOWLS
The three Pre-Columbian bowls in this lot (AJC.101) are believed to represent somewhat different periods of Costa Rica’s early history. The two bowls noted as ‘B’ and ‘C’ are probably from the Guanacaste-Nicoya area with the 2 3/8” tall zoomorphic tripod bowl B dating c.1000BC-500AD and the 4 ¼” wide incised tripod rattle leg bowl C dating c.1200-1550AD. The 1 ¾” tall red-ware jar marked ‘A’ appears to be an Atlantic Watershed style dating c.500AD. Condition of the three ranges from fairly good (B & C) to very good (A). Chips and surface etching on B & C are well evident in the photos. None of the pieces have undergone any repair and the original rattle pellets or pebbles remain in the bulbous legs of C. From a local collection, the trio comes with a display card, a map of Costa Rica highlighting the areas of origin mentioned above, and our certificate guaranteeing that the items are all Pre-Columbian in age. Select or ask any question by referring to either the Trocadero Item Number (839820)in the upper left portion of this page, or to the group’s unique Inventory Number, AJC101. Note: if you would like to view an even larger number of our various listings, and at the same time limit your browsing time, try our popular ‘TWELVE different items on a single page format’ by simply spelling out the word TWELVE in the search box. That will quickly bring up all of our listings that have twelve different items on a page, each individually priced! And if you want to further refine the group, add one or two additional modifiers at the same time such as ‘Indian, Precolumbian, Stone, Pot, Gold, etc.’ All items in the groups of twelve that have been sold will be so noted on their individual photographs.
