| This group of twelve (RDM 14, 30, 32-34, 38, 40, 50, 56, 57 and 59) represents the final listing for the Barney Mallonee collection, but it’s going out with a BANG! There are pieces from the Tiwanaku and Manteno horizons, as well as a few with unknown provenance, all very reasonably priced in a range from $75-$225, and ranging in condition that from 4 to 8 (on the 1-10 scale, with 10 being tops). Standouts in my eyes are the Tiahuanacan polychrome jar with the great but simply designed protruding face just below the rim, and the elongated and gracefully shaped Manteno jar with the applied elements that define an owl’s face….and there are others of equal appeal. None of these pots have been cleaned or otherwise preserved, and most can be easily and inexpensively restored to their original condition (and I can recommend an excellent conservator from whom you can quickly get an estimate). Because of the lack of cleaning and restoration, all of the pieces in the Mallonee collection are being offered at reduced prices. Each photo lists first the item inventory number in brackets, a brief description of the item followed by a numerical grade of 1-10, size, approximate date range, condition, and finally the price. A purchase comes with a small display card, a biographical sketch about Barney Mallonee, and our certificate guaranteeing authenticity.
