| The ceramic vessels in this assorted group (RDM 67, 72, 73, 81-83, 86, 91, 96, 101, 107 and 118) are all from the Barney Mallonee collection. Individually photographed and priced, most of the pieces are from the mysterious Tiwanaku horizon of Bolivia. The few zoomorphic forms having no provenance appear to be from Ecuador and may have been purchased in the U.S. in the mid-20th century. The Bolivian pieces were brought out of South America just before the end of WW I, after which Barney’s collection was passed on from generation to generation in his family, finally ending up in the hands of his grandson Rudy who owns the collection today. The pieces range in color from monochrome red to multicolored black, red, white, et al. Included in the pottery forms are images of parrot-like birds, a crested bird, and a double-headed crocodile or alligator. On a 1-10 basis with 10 being at the top, the quality of the relic group ranges from 3-8 and the price from $30-$300. None of the pots in this collection have been cleaned or otherwise preserved and all still bear the marks of retrieval from digging (i.e., mud-stained and caliche-coated surfaces, chips, dings, some paint loss, abrasions, etc). However, the colorful patterns on any of them can be enhanced with a short soak and light scrub in water, and can be further enhanced with other easily to applied techniques. Because of the lack of cleaning, the pieces of these rarely seen Tiahuanacan types are being offered at reduced prices. Each photo lists first the item inventory number in brackets, a brief description of the item followed by a numerical grade based upon 10 being the best, size, approximate date range, condition, and finally the price. A purchase comes with a small display card, a biographical sketch about Barney Mallonee, and our certificate guaranteeing authenticity. Select or ask any question by referring either to the Trocadero ITEM # or the STOCK # (RDM.D) at the top of this page, and ALSO to the item’s unique INVENTORY NUMBER as shown in the brackets on its photo. NOTE: if you would like to view a large number of our various listings, and at the same time limit your browsing, try our ‘TWELVE different items on a single page format’ by simply spelling out the word TWELVE in the search box. That will quickly bring up all of our listings that have twelve different items on a page, each individually priced! And if you want to further refine the group, add one or two additional modifiers at the same time such as ‘Indian, Precolumbian, Stone, Pot, Gold, etc.’ Any item that has been sold will be so noted on its photograph. | |||||||||||||||
