ANCIENT CHINESE POLYCHROME JAR
This 8 ½” tall, geometrically painted, ancient polychrome ceramic jar (GLC483) is from the Gene Lang collection. Intact with a small rim chip and significant loss of paint, the bowl shows nicely from one side, and poorly from the other. Lang identified this as a Banshan type from the Gansu-Yang culture dating c.2655-2330BC. The loss of paint could be corrected with professional restoration. This ancient handled jar comes with a small display card and a write-up about the late Gene Lang, primarily noted for his knowledge and restoration of the American prehistoric southwest.
