Reserve Indented Corrugated Bowl, New Mexico
This attractive, 7 7/8” wide, corrugated bowl (GL644) has what is known as a ‘smudged’ interior, that is a burnished glistening black finish. From the estate of the late Gene Lang of Denver, this is one of many that Lang purchased from the Williams Ranch private collection south of Quemado, New Mexico. Glued together with some minor rim restoration (possibly quadrant ‘kills’ for which much of the Williams Ranch pottery is known), Lang typed this bowl as a Reserve Indented Corrugated dating c.1050-1250AD and assigned it to the Mogollon cultural horizon. It comes with a small display card, a grapevine ring to set the bowl upon, a release certificate stating that the bowl is not in violation of any laws, and a brief biographical sketch about Gene Lang.
