TWO UNUSUAL PRE-COLUMBIAN CERAMIC VESSELS
The two Pre-Columbian vessels (LFG347 and LFG436) illustrated on this page are both from the collection of published research anthropologist and former southwestern primitive arts dealer, Lorenzo Gordon Fritz. Illustrated and priced individually on the two photos accompanying this write-up, the Molla cultural piece (LFG436) from Bolivia, dating c.1300-1500AD, is 5” wide at the mouth, and has a ladle like protrusion on its rim. In overall fairly good condition with a hairline stress crack and a chipped rim, it is a style not often seen. The other piece (LFG347) is a handled, pedestal-based libation cup from the Jalisco horizon of West Mexico, dating c.300BC-300AD. Measuring 4” in width, with a bi-colored rim, the cup is in overall very good condition with a chip on the rim of the pedestal, and a chip under the handle. A rare style, it is an interesting art form that should add to a West Mexican pot collection. Both pieces come with a small display card, a map highlighting the area from which it came, a biographical sketch about the owner, and our certificate guaranteeing authenticity. Select or ask any question by referring either to the Trocadero Item Number at the top of this page, or to Inventory Number shown at the beginning of this paragraph. NOTE: if you would like to view a large number of our various listings, and at the same time limit your browsing, try our ‘TWELVE different items on a single page format’ by simply spelling out the word TWELVE in the search box. That will quickly bring up all of our listings that have twelve different items on a page, each individually priced! And if you want to further refine the group, add one or two additional modifiers at the same time such as ‘Indian, Precolumbian, Stone, Pot, Gold, etc.’ Any item that has been sold will be so noted on its photograph.
