TWELVE ASSORTED NATIVE AMERICAN NECKLACES
Here’s an eye-catching assortment of Native American necklaces (TEH 174, 192, and 201 thru 210) from the estate of the late Chester Howard. As founder of the Colorado Mineral Society in the 1930s, one shouldn’t be surprised that Howard would identify at least a few of the turquoise varieties that make up the beads in these strands: Red Mountain, Ruffan Mine, McGinnis Big Blue, and Pilot Mountain. In addition to turquoise, the beads in the necklaces include: shell, pipestone, varieties of glass, fetishes, coral, ivory or bone, variscite, whitehearts, and more. The 1950-1980 date range shown on most of the photos doesn’t necessarily represent the age of the beads, but the period during which Howard purchased the items. Each necklace is illustrated on its own photograph, annotated with its unique inventory number, and then followed by a brief description. Which in turn is followed by additional descriptive text, and finally the price for the pictured necklace. Most of the photos have a spliced photo showing close-ups of the beads. Select or ask any question by referring first to the Trocadero Item Number on this page, and then to our Inventory Number on the given photograph. Any pieces sold will be so-marked on its photo. A purchase comes with a descriptive card along with a biographical write-up about Chester Howard and his large collection. NOTE: if you would like to view a large number of our various listings, and at the same time limit your browsing time, try our ‘TWELVE different items on a single page format’ by simply spelling out the word TWELVE in the search box. That will quickly bring up all of our listings that have twelve different items on a page, each individually priced and available! And if you want to further refine the group, add one or two additional modifiers at the same time such as ‘Indian, Precolumbian, Stone, Pot, Gold, etc.’ Any item that has been sold will be so noted on its photograph.
