66 ARROWHEADS, LAKE SAYULA, MEXICO: EX HEFLIN
This 15” x 17” shadowbox frame (AXH65) contains 66 authentic Pre-Columbian atlatl points and arrowheads all found by the late Dr. Allen Heflin in the Lake Sayula area of Jalisco, west Mexico. As is typical of points actually found in the field, a number of them have minor dings and chips, but on the whole are in good condition. The pieces in this interesting and representative frame were made mostly from obisidian (different types and colors) with at least one made from basalt. Close-up photos taken of the four quadrants (NW, NE, SE and SW) are so marked. The stemmed point circled in the center of the complete frame appears in each of the quad photos for orientation. Close-ups of several of the individual points are shown to illustrate some of the volcanic rock variations. Athough none of the points have been removed to show Heflin’s back marks, it is almost certain that each one is marked in white ink on its hidden side with the date and location of find, an enduring feature that has added great collector interest to Heflin’s superbly documented collection. This inexpensive frame comes with a copy of the memoriam to Heflin published in the Missouri Archaeologcal Society Quarterly in the late ‘90s, a map of Mexico on which the area represented in the frame has been highlighted, and a certificate guaranteeing authenticity. For shipment, the frame will be bubble-packed and placed in a foam peanut packed box. NOTE: if you would like to view a large number of our various listings, and at the same time limit your browsing, try our ‘TWELVE different items on a single page format’ by simply spelling out the word TWELVE in the search box. That will quickly bring up all of our listings that have twelve different items on a page, each individually priced! And if you want to further refine the group, add one or two additional modifiers at the same time such as ‘Indian, Precolumbian, Stone, Pot, Gold, etc.’
