| Each of the ancient stone and bronze intaglio beads or donut seals (96.998ZHD, 97.128HD; 100.40D & JHD; 100.41GHD; 100.42F, G, H and IHD; 100.43iHD; 100.181WHD and 101.8AJHD) in this colorful group of twelve is offered individually. All but one are attributed to the Sassanian Empire, c.300-600AD (there is a single Kushan ring seal dating c.40-400AD) and were found in the western regions of Afghanistan during the Russian occupation. Each of the seals is uniquely incised with an image of man, beast, or revered symbol. Material types in this group include agate, bronze, carnelian, chalcedony, and hematite. An estimate of size can be made by comparison to the standard ruler shown on the left of each photo. Select by inventory number shown on the photograph. Any that have been sold will be so-marked. A purchase comes with a small display card, a map of Afghanistan highlighting the general area in which the seal was found, and our certificate guaranteeing authenticity.
