DECORATED PALE GREEN GLASS ROMAN BOTTLE
This 7” tall, intact, fairly heavily stained and partly caliche-coated ancient pale green glass bottle (RG31) is from the collection of the late Walter Evans Edge. He was a US Ambassador to France in the ealier 20th century, and purchased the bottle during a trip to Cyprus. Without damage, but with a somewhat etched and partially iridescent surface, it is a fine example of its type. Attributed to the Roman period, c.100-300AD, the bottle was later purchased from the Edge estate in the 1960s by my consigner, Roberto Gonzalo. The bottle, which is decorated with a couple of sets of encircling bands, comes with a small display card, a biographical sketch about Walter Edge, and our certificate guaranteeng authenticity. NOTE: if you would like to view a large number of our various listings, and at the same time limit your browsing, try our ‘TWELVE different items on a single page format’ by simply spelling out the word TWELVE in the search box. That will quickly bring up all of our listings that have twelve different items on a page, each individually priced!
