CASAS GRANDES POLYCHROME: EX HOWARD
Glued together along a relatively clean single break, this 6 ¾” wide black-and-red on white Casas Grandes bowl (TEH.123), from Chihuahua in northern Mexico, reaches out to the viewer with its bold and colorful geometric design. Dating into the period c.1240-1360AD, it appears to be a Ramos Polychrome, except for the white background slip that probably types it more accurately as the Huerigos style. From the Chester Howard collection, the bowl comes with a small display card, a biographical sketch about the late owner who founded the Colorado Mineral Society in the earlier 20th century, a map of Mexico highlighting the Casas Grandes area, and our certificate guaranteeing authenticity. You can see many more items from this old and diverse collection by typing the three letters TEH into the search box on any of the catalog pages. NOTE: if you would like to view a large number of our various other listings, and at the same time limit your browsing time, try our ‘TWELVE different items on a single page format’ by simply spelling out the word TWELVE in the search box. That will quickly bring up all of our listings that have twelve different items on a page, each individually priced and available! Any item that has been sold will be so noted on its photograph.
