TWELVE PRE-COLUMBIAN ARTIFACTS: CARD GROUP U
This group of twelve photographs illustrates individually priced Pre-Columbian artifacts (AXH Nos. 1405R4N5, 1410R4N4, 1412R1N1, 1422R1N4, 1435R2N2, 1490R6N2, 1493R1N2, 1501R3N1, 1503, 2647B & X, and 2768), all from the estate of the late Dr. Allen Heflin. All Post-Classic Aztec pieces in this group, dating c.1300AD-1500AD, the various types represented are: human head, needle, miniature metate, whorl, ear spools, figurine, snake’s head, jaguar head, flaking tool, etc. Materials include bone and clay. Each artifact is mounted with water-soluble glue on a small descriptive card identifying the item, its age, and when known, the location where the item was found. Each relic comes with either a copy of the memoriam to Heflin published in the Missouri Archaeological Society Quarterly, or a copy of our biographical sketch telling about both the man and his collection. Also included, when applicable, will be a map showing where the artifact was found. This opportunity to acquire a few items from some of the identified sites in the New World is unique. The price range ($30-$125) reflects the variation in the quality of the items, some being fragments, but the assortment is broad and interesting. Select or ask any question by first referring to the Trocadero Number on this page, and then the inventory number shown on the given photograph. Any that have been sold will be so-marked on its photo. If you’d like to see all of the currently listed carded varieties, simply type AXH.CARD in any of the search links in our catalog, and a complete list will appear. And if you’d like to see all of the various other items listed in the group of twelve format (a great way to save on browsing time), enter the single word TWELVE into the search link.
