Twelve Stone Artifacts From Mexico
All but two of the stone artifacts shown in the photos for this group of twelve are from the Lynn Langdon estate and were collected during his travels into West Mexico in the mid-20th century (AXH3021; EB.1007; LLL732R1N2A and R4N2E; 1202; 1205AU, AV, AX, AY and BB; 1207G; and 1209E). The other, prefixed by AXH, is from the Dr. Allen Heflin collection and is believed to have been found in the Valley of Mexico in the 1950s. The relics from the Langdon collection include an assortment of figural pendants, a group of ‘button’ beads, several lots of the curious ‘blade holder pendants’, and a small lot of greenstone beads. The single item from the Heflin collection is made from crystal quartz, believed to be Aztec in origin, and may have been either a piece of jewelry, or perhaps the handle from a perforator. The price shown on each photo is for all of the items in that photo. Note that a millimeter scale appears in all of the photos. Each photo is annotated with first our inventory number followed by a brief description. Next comes the age and provenance. Any special notes concerning number or condition follow. The price is shown last. Select or ask any question by referring first to the Trocadero Item Number on this page, and then to our Inventory Number shown on the given photograph. Each artifact comes with a small display card, a biographical sketch about the owner of the previous owner of the collection, and an appropriate map of Mexico highlighting the area where the artifacts were found. NOTE: if you would like to view a large number of our various listings, and at the same time limit your browsing, try our ‘TWELVE different items on a single page format’ by simply spelling out the word TWELVE in the search box. That will quickly bring up all of our listings that have twelve different items on a page, each individually priced!
