PRE-COLUMBIAN FIGURAL WOOD BOUNDARY POST
From the dry coastal desert area of Peru, this 21 ½” long, carved, figural boundary post (AK156) is attributed to the Chimu horizon dating c.1000-1400AD. The post is slotted through at two locations for the insertion of confining slats that probably joined it to another. The two carved figures (almost in the round) appear to be blowing flutes. In overall very good condition with heavily patinated and weathered surface, it is a fine example of the more rare perishable Pre-Columbian relics from the area. The post comes with a small display card, a map of Peru on which the Chimu area is highlighted, and our certificate guaranteeing authenticity. NOTE: if you would like to view a large number of our various listings, and at the same time limit your browsing, try our ‘TWELVE different items on a single page format’ by simply spelling out the word TWELVE in the search box. That will quickly bring up all of our listings that have twelve different items on a page, each individually priced!
