| Each of the glass and crock ink and mucilage bottles in this group (SXP6, SXP9, SXP12, SXP13, SXP14, SXP195, SXP198, SXP199, SXP201, SXP202) was dug at the site of Ft. McPherson, Nebraska. Established in 1863 where an important Indian trail crossed the South Platte River, it was first called Cottonwood Post, but took its final name in 1866 in honor of Brig. Gen. James B. McPherson, killed near Atlanta in 1864. Located a couple of miles west of Cottonwood Springs and some eight miles above the junction of the North and South Platte Rivers, the site today is a national cemetery. Most of the old fort grounds are covered by farmland and little, if any, remains to be dug today. The individual photo for each of the bottles is marked first with its inventory number, then the type, location where found, size, condition, and price. Each bottle comes with a small display card. A brief description about Ft. McPherson will also be included, along with the name of the collection from which the bottle came. Additional photos of any of the bottles will be sent upon request. Please refer to any bottle of interest by first the Trocadero Number and then the Inventory Number shown on the photo for the bottle. You can view all of the old bottles in our catalog by typing the three letters BTL into the search box. NOTE: if you enjoy this ‘TWELVE different items on a single page format’, and would like to see all the different categories that we currently list in our catalog, spell out the word TWELVE in the search box and it will bring them all up.
