STATUE OF THE OLD FIRE GOD, HUEHUETEOTL
Although this 12 ½” tall hollow statue of the Old Fire God (LLL493) has been glued together and is missing its right foot, a couple of fingers on his cupped right hand, genitalia, and has a couple of small chips in the brazier rim, Huehueteotl is still impressive figure. From the Langdon collection, it is attributed to the Zapotec horizon dating c.500BC-700AD. The censer comes with a small display card, a biographical sketch about Langdon, a map of Mexico highlighting the area where the Zapotec lived, and a certificate guaranteeing authenticity.
