FINE FERRUGINOUS QUARTZITE BANNERSTONE, IL.

Measuring 2 5/8” in length, this rectangular bannerstone (WG103) is triangular in cross-section. It was found in Adams County, Illinois (so-marked with black ink on one side) and dates into the Archaic Period, c.7000-4000BP. Made from mottled ferruginous quartzite, it is slightly concave along its outer edges, and has a moderate polish. Beautifully translucent in front of bright light, and in excellent condition, this highly desirable relic comes with a small display card and a certificate guaranteeing authenticity.
