NEOLITHIC QUARTZ LABRET FROM NIGER, AFRICA

This 1 7/16” long, elongated football-shaped translucent quartz object (100.37BHD) was found in the Agadez region of Niger, Africa. Measuring ½” in its maximum diameter, and in excellent, semi-polished condition, it has been identified as a labret used in either the lip or ear. Dated to the Tenereen period, c.2000-3000BC, it is in excellent condition. The labret comes Elmer-glued to a small display card and is accompanied by a map of Africa highlighting the general area in which it was found.
