PRE-COLUMBIAN POLISHED GREENSTONE PENDANT

This 1 ¼” long perforated and polished greenstone pendant (LLL838J) is from the estate of the late Lynn Langdon. Found in west Mexico in the mid-20th century, the pendant is flat on one side, and curved on the other. An unfinished hole at one end may represent an eye, but more likely a suspension hole never completed. With the shaped of a tooth or claw, it was most likely used as a protective amulet. Attributed to the Nayarit, it is thought to date c.300BC-1000AD. The pendant comes with a small display card, a write-up about Langdon, a map of west Mexico highlighting the area in which the pendant was found, and a certificate guaranteeing it to be Pre-Columbian in age.
