Here’s a fascinating enigma! This carved, 4 ¾” tall, dark greenish black steatite elbow pipe (BWO6) came to its owner as possibly Aztec in origin. This 6 7/8” wide, gray and white on red bowl (BB73) is attributed to an unidentified potter from the Santa Clara Pueblo of New Mexico. With a somewhat primitive geometric design and its gently scalloped, infolded rim, the bowl is believed to date into the early to middle 20th century.
