Each of the glass and crock ink and mucilage bottles in this group (SXP6, SXP9, SXP12, SXP13, SXP14, SXP195, SXP198, SXP199, SXP201, SXP202) was dug at the site of Ft. McPherson, Nebraska. Established in 1863 where an important Indian trail crossed the South Platte River, it was first called Cottonwood Post, but took its final name in 1866 in honor of Brig. Gen. James B.
