This group of seven old iron spurs (TEH.F81.3-9) was removed from a frame assembled by the late Chester Howard. This 12 5/8” long, 8 ½ pound cast bronze canon (TEH119) was purchased in Morelia, Mexico in 1960 by the late Chester Howard, adventurer, collector, and founder of the Colorado Mineral Society in 1936. Believed to date back into the early 19th century colonial period, the canon has no markings and except for its bent ball handle, is in excellent condition. Obviously too small to have been effective as a fearsome weapon, it was most likely used to issue a salute or a warning. The canon would make ...click for details
