This style of ‘antenna handled’ ancient bronze sword (100.166BHD) is found in the lower Ganges Valley of India. Assigned to the Uttar Pradesh period, dating c.1800-1000BC, the 16” long sword is in overall very good condition with excellent patina, minor metal loss, and a small, leaf like area along one blade edge that has partially loosened but is still attached (care should be taken not to apply pressure to the area as it wouldn’t take too much to break off the piece). This 8 ˝” tall, geometrically painted, ancient polychrome ceramic jar (GLC483) is from the Gene Lang collection. Intact with a small rim chip and significant loss of paint, the bowl shows nicely from one side, and poorly from the other. Lang identified this as a Banshan type from the Gansu-Yang culture dating c.2655-2330BC. The loss of paint could be corrected with professional restoration.
