This second ancient lion's head doorknocker (MAB 2) appears to be a companion piece to MAB 1. Both were probably mounted on the same Roman door in Syria around the 1st Century A.D. Undoubtedly designed to signify the power and importance of the home's owner, it is a beautifully molded and complete bronze assemblage but unlike the ring on MAB 1, the ring on MAB 2 no longer moves.
