This remarkably well-preserved set of ancient hollow high karat gold earrings (WJF413) came out of Afghanistan during the Russian occupation. In dented condition, they have been adapted for modern wear with gold studs. Measuring 1 1/8” across, and 1 ¾” from the bottom to the top of the original ear loop, the earrings are believed to date into the Pre-Islamic period sometime during the late first millennium BC to the middle first millennium AD. This beautifully crafted, almost 1¼ pound bronze circlet (97.56HD) was found during the Russian occupation in the ancient oasis kingdom of Bactria located in the deserts of north Afghanistan and now known as BMAC (Bactria-Margiana Archaeological Complex). Heavily patinated and encrusted with copper salts, it is a spectacular example of the early bronze worker's art.
