The finely detailed and interesting design on the beveled under side of this 3" tall and 4 3/8" wide silver vessel (MAB 224) depicts the repeated image of a seated Peruvian lord drinking from a cup, and standing birds around its cone-shaped stem. Attributed to the Lambayeque (or Sican) culture of north coastal Peru and successors to the Moche, the cup is dated c.800-1350AD.
