$300.00

There is surprising detail on this 7/8” tall figural pendant (102.53HD) that was cast in copper and surfaced in Pre-Columbian days with a light silver coating. Attributed to the Chimu horizon of Peru, dating c.1000-1400AD, the amuletic character (a dancer or healer?), wearing a breechcloth, stands with legs slightly bent, and his remaining single arm flexed at the elbow with hand extended to the front (the left forearm is missing). A small ring at the top of his head appears to have been used fo ...click for details

$15,000.00

The gold tube beads and quartz crystal beads in this 22” necklace (97.190HD) are all attributed to the Calima horizon in the El Bolo River of Colombia and date c.100BC-400AD. Possibly originally found together as a group, but no way of being positive. The gold beads, made from hammered, fairly heavy sheet gold and ‘capped’ at the ends by folding, are all in very good to excellent condition and measure up to 5/8” in length. Small contemporary metal beads were used inside the hollow gold tube bead ...click for details

$1500.00

The exact species type of this realistically lost wax cast lizard pendant (TF98.110) is unknown, but probably one that can be fairly easily identified if not extinct. Measuring 5 1/8” in length and attributed to the Veraguas horizon of Panama, c.500-1200AD, this rather large zoomorphic form was made from the high copper, low gold alloy known as tumbaga. After the casting was completed, the surface was treated with plant acids to leach away the copper leaving a thin film of higher grade gold that ...click for details

This 4 ¼” tall Pre-Columbian hammered sheet silver beaker (LFG413) is from the Tiwanaku area of Bolivia dating c.400-1200AD. In a graceful bi-conical shape, it was easy to grasp by the Tiahuanacan lord who once raised it to his lips after filling the beaker with the favored alcoholic chicha that was made from the fermentation of cornmeal. Had this chalice been constructed from beaten gold, its now moderately dented form could not have been any more improved, but the survival of the metal would h ...click for details

This is one of the most unusual and fun examples of Precolumbian gold we’ve had. Describing the imagery defies the imagination! Dragon? Jaguar? Pop-eyed frog? Probably none of the above, it is more likely and quite simply to be the product of a very imaginative Precolumbian artist and gold smith. Attributed to the Veraguas horizon of Panama, dating c.500-1200AD, the ‘dragon’ sits atop a bell that has a wonderful tinkling resonance. This pendant (TFX116) was lost wax cast using the high copper, l ...click for details

This phenomenal depiction of the shaman undergoing empowerment is almost pure gold! Worn in Precolumbian Panama by a member of the Veraguas group, the 3 7/8” long pendant (100.80HD) was authenticated and tested as 23K gold by the Orenda laboratory in Santa Fe, New Mexico. It’s difficult to find the right words to describe an item of such beauty and power, but a similar, only slightly larger piece sold at Sotheby’s years ago for almost $80,000! This extraordinary example of the ancient gold worke ...click for details

$2500.00

This 24” necklace (100.152HD) is made up of hammered, high karat sheet gold hollow beads and an assortment of barrel and disk shaped greenstone beads. All are attributed to the Veraguas horizon of Panama dating c.500-1200AD. It is not known whether these were all found together, but the similarity of type and size would so indicate. Strung on contemporary fishing line, the beads can be worn, but due to the lightweight nature of the gold, care must be taken not to lean against a table edge or som ...click for details

Possibly an ornament for a crown, headband, or some other article of clothing, this 5 ¾” long, decorated copper flexible strip (AK138) is attributed to the Chimu horizon of Peru, c.1000-1400AD. Heavily patinated and coated with mineral salts, but in overall fairly good condition, the top of the strip has spiral decorations and a movable concave disk or bead, some ½ of which has corroded away. A bit of weathered textile fragment appears to have been attached to the strip at one time, but is now l ...click for details
