$1200.00

The carved image of the crouched jaguar on the head that tops this bone spatula (TF98.78) most certainly identifies this as a shaman's purging stick. Inset with some remnant small chunks of greenstone (possibly malachite or turquoise, in themselves frequently associated with medicinal use), this amazing bone tool is in very good condition with little wear and only a small split on the back of the head. Measuring 8” in length, examples of this unsavory instrument, used in the curing and purif ...click for details

$1500.00

This almost perfect Pre-Columbian polychrome basket (LFG412) is attributed to the Tiahuanacan Period of highland Bolivia, c.400-1200AD. The basket reed is in overall very good condition with a few areas of light wear, a minor number of non-weakening broke ...click for details

$450.00

Measuring 23” in length, this heavy carved wood staff handle (TF97.19) displays at its top a seated, long-faced, and rather gaunt-looking male with a tumpline around his brow holding a small burden on his back. Attributed to the Paramonga of Peru, c.1100-1400AD, this may have been the burden-carrier’s walking stick and the image on top, a depiction of how he probably felt at the end of a long walk carrying his burden. Well weathered and patinated with some light splitting from dehydration, this ...click for details
