THE HEIRS OF THE BILLY BRANCH COLLECTION ARE NOW INVITING OFFERS!!!

With the imminent distribution of proceeds from the sales of items in the Billy Branch estate, the heirs
are inviting offers. Though already heavily discounted, the family has asked that I note its willingness to
consider any offer for a listed item in the Branch collection: Pre-Columbian art pottery; unique Native American
pawn pieces; Chinese zoomorphic cloisonnee forms; and a variety of other special collectibles. Bill had a good
eye, and this opportunity to purchase a fine piece at your price is seldom seen. To see all items in the Branch
collection, simply type the letters 'BB' into the search link on any page and all of Bill's listings will come up.

$1500.00

This incredibly well preserved set of Pre-Columbian wood ear plugs (LFG442), on which the geometrically decorated shell and dark greenstone elements are each held in place with an almost invisible touch of contemporary glue, is attributed to the Moche horizon of Peru, c.100-800AD. Not wearable today due to the fragile nature of the wood that has dried and shrunk through the many centuries of entombment, there are certainly few other such pairs that have survived this well. Measuring one inch fro ...click for details

Either used to hold tools of various sorts, or perhaps coca leaves, this large dark but vari-colored bag (100.255ARHD) is attributed to the Nazca horizon of Peru, c.100-800AD. In only fair condition with significant stain and a fair amount of fabric material loss and pulling, the approximately 12” x 15” bag (counting the fringe) is still a displayable type piece for style, color, and pattern. From the Gunnulf Bjorkman collection, it comes in a deep 14” x 20” glass-fronted frame along with a biog ...click for details

Decorated with dark brown, almost black wraps of grass spaced geometrically along its rim and in its body, this old highlands basket (LFG458) is attributed to the Tiahuanacan cultural period of Bolivia, c.400-1200AD. In overall good condition, though darkened and slightly out-of-round due to desiccation and age, a few areas along the rim of the 7” long basket have lost the grass loops exposing the bundled fiber coil. In addition to a few small areas along the sides of the basket where similar lo ...click for details

This woven textile is well over 60” in length, and must have been used as a sash. Measuring 7 ½” in width at its colorful center where a 9” wide panel of birds can be seen, the textile (100.255APHD) is in overall fairly good condition, except for the two colored textile ends. The colored end panel on the right in the photo, only in fair condition, appears to have been added as an ancient repair, as the size of the panel is smaller and its pattern different from that of the one on the left, which ...click for details

Aside for the overall quality and frequent uniqueness of the artifacts and relics from the Dr. Allen Heflin collection, it’s difficult not to to rank its next most important feature as the extreme care practiced by Heflin in documenting the provenance of almost every one of his approximately 10,000 treasured items. Not all of them were large, or impressive, or complete, or of museum quality, and many were simply the fragments and parts from ritually broken offerings to ancient gods, or pieces re ...click for details
