According to the previous owner, this 2 5/8” tall anthropomorphic axe god pendant (101.32HD) was characterized as displaying Olmecoid influence by the late nationally known Robert Stroessner, ex museum curator of the New World Department at the Denver Art Museum. In excellent condition, the marvelous greenstone piece tests out within the refractive index range of jadeite. This fine burnished redware Pre-Columbian pipe (LLL1148) was found in West Mexico by the late Lynn Langdon in the mid-20th century. Measuring 6 ¾” in length, and glued together in two places, with good restoration of the cracks, the pipe is a classic example of the Tarascan style dating c.1200-1500AD.
