$1500.00 (Will Consider Offer)

This highly burnished red ware melon jar (CLP 1) is one of my favorite items from Claudia Proto's collection of West Mexican Pre-Columbian art. 8" wide and 6 1/4" tall, it simply bubbles with fun and style in spite of the its obviously damaged condition ( in our opinion, it still deserves a quality rank of '7', with 10 being the tops). Assigned to the Colima horizon dating c,100-300AD, it suffers a bruised nose and a rim that is missing a couple of chunks with some glue to ...click for details

According to the previous owner, this 2 5/8” tall anthropomorphic axe god pendant (101.32HD) was characterized as displaying Olmecoid influence by the late nationally known Robert Stroessner, ex museum curator of the New World Department at the Denver Art Museum. In excellent condition, the marvelous greenstone piece tests out within the refractive index range of jadeite. $15,000.00 (Will Consider Offer)

With subdued polish and evidence of burial through a minor amount of non-distracting surface pitting, it was (and probably still can be) worn as a pendant by suspending it from the two bow-drilled holes appearing on i ...click for details
