This dark blue ancient glass amulet (102.9HD) is darkly translucent, almost opaque. Found in Lebanon, it dates into the Roman Period, c.100BC-100AD. Just short of 7/8” in length, an embossed image on the front may represent an animal, but it’s impossible to be sure. In overall good condition, the surface of the pitted, bubbly glass has fine iridescence from burial. The amulet comes with a small display card and a certificate guaranteeing authenticity.

This second ancient lion's head doorknocker (MAB 2) appears to be a companion piece to MAB 1. Both were probably mounted on the same Roman door in Syria around the 1st Century A.D. Undoubtedly designed to signify the power and importance of the home's owner, it is a beautifully molded and complete bronze assemblage but unlike the ring on MAB 1, the ring on MAB 2 no longer moves. Circular in form with a scalloped edge, this ¾” wide, incised steatite dot seal pendant (97.287HD) is attributed to the Bactrian Empire of northern Afghanistan dating into the 2nd Millennium BC. This disk shaped, embossed, bluish green faience amulet (96.1047HD) has the image of Bes on one side and the Eye of Horus on the other. Measuring ¾” in diameter and 1/8” in thickness, the molded amulet, in overall very good condition and wearable, has a small dark casting flaw on its edge.
