$900.00

In spite of her missing left leg, this 7” tall, female figural whistle (RFM1) still projects the undenied beauty achieved by the ancient Ecuadorian potter that fashioned her. Attributed to the later phases of the Guangala horizon dating c.500BC-500AD, the mold-made, incised, and paint-striped hollow figure will still emit a whistling sound by covering the missing leg hole with the fleshy part of the palm and blowing through the hole in the top of her head. She stands with open hands held to her ...click for details

$300.00

There is surprising detail on this 7/8” tall figural pendant (102.53HD) that was cast in copper and surfaced in Pre-Columbian days with a light silver coating. Attributed to the Chimu horizon of Peru, dating c.1000-1400AD, the amuletic character (a dancer or healer?), wearing a breechcloth, stands with legs slightly bent, and his remaining single arm flexed at the elbow with hand extended to the front (the left forearm is missing). A small ring at the top of his head appears to have been used fo ...click for details

Each of the twelve individually priced prehistoric Indian artifacts in this group (AXH66.4, 5, 8, 10, 13, 21, 25, 26, 34, 36, 41, and 44) were once attached to a frame with Elmer’s glue that had been assembled from finds in Louisiana made by the late Dr. Allen Heflin. Included in the group are what I believe to be the following point types: Boggy River Type II, Burkett, Evans, Gary, Marcos, Midland, and Savannah River. Heflin marked all of the points on one side in black ink with the provenance, ...click for details

$2250.00

This 8” tall grey-ware cylinder vessel (AJC109) is attributed to the Classic Maya dating c.300-900AD. In overall very good condition with a barely noticeable 3” hairline crack from the rim, the vertically positioned incised lines surrounding its body terminate against the base of an encircling panel that portrays the enigmatic, glyph-like image of what may represent the beaked head of the revered vulture. The crack-like feature near the base of the jar does not penetrate its interior, and is onl ...click for details

$11,000.00

The scene of a woman sitting is a breezeway between two ‘cabins’ (RFM42) surrounded by her three pets doesn’t differ significantly from what one might experience in some remote area of Mexico today. Attributed to the Nayarit of West Mexico, this Ixtlan del Rio styled Protoclassic model dates c.100BC-250AD. In overall very good condition, the 6 ½” long plaza is raised on four tapered feet and still retains traces of red and white paint. The largest of the three pups is missing its tail, and there ...click for details

$15,000.00

The gold tube beads and quartz crystal beads in this 22” necklace (97.190HD) are all attributed to the Calima horizon in the El Bolo River of Colombia and date c.100BC-400AD. Possibly originally found together as a group, but no way of being positive. The gold beads, made from hammered, fairly heavy sheet gold and ‘capped’ at the ends by folding, are all in very good to excellent condition and measure up to 5/8” in length. Small contemporary metal beads were used inside the hollow gold tube bead ...click for details

$900.00

From the Lorenzo Gordon Fritz collection, this fine burnished black-ware libation bottle (LFG437) is attributed to the Lambayeque-Chimu cultural area of north coastal Peru, c.700-1300AD. At the base of the neck is the modeled image of the slant-eyed and tattooed Naymlap, legendary Lambayeque hero king wearing three necklaces, and from whose shoulders erupt a pair of celestial serpents below each of which are prone adoration figures. On the handle of the vessel is a pair of birds, one of which ap ...click for details

This group of twelve (RDM 14, 30, 32-34, 38, 40, 50, 56, 57 and 59) represents the final listing for the Barney Mallonee collection, but it’s going out with a BANG! There are pieces from the Tiwanaku and Manteno horizons, as well as a few with unknown provenance, all very reasonably priced in a range from $75-$225, and ranging in condition that from 4 to 8 (on the 1-10 scale, with 10 being tops). Standouts in my eyes are the Tiahuanacan polychrome jar with the great but simply designed protrudin ...click for details

$1500.00

The exact species type of this realistically lost wax cast lizard pendant (TF98.110) is unknown, but probably one that can be fairly easily identified if not extinct. Measuring 5 1/8” in length and attributed to the Veraguas horizon of Panama, c.500-1200AD, this rather large zoomorphic form was made from the high copper, low gold alloy known as tumbaga. After the casting was completed, the surface was treated with plant acids to leach away the copper leaving a thin film of higher grade gold that ...click for details

$2750.00

The late Gene Lang of Denver purchased this 9 ¾” wide prehistoric Indian bowl (GL591) from the Chris Robinson collection (Chris, according to Lang, played a major part in a TV soap opera). Typed as a Mimbres Black-on-White and dating c.975-1150AD, the bowl is attributed to the Mogollon sub-group and was originally found in New Mexico. Glued together with minor restoration, the bowl has a ‘kill’ hole in its bottom center. With a reverse image geometric design, the bowl displays very nicely, altho ...click for details
