$900.00

In spite of her missing left leg, this 7” tall, female figural whistle (RFM1) still projects the undenied beauty achieved by the ancient Ecuadorian potter that fashioned her. Attributed to the later phases of the Guangala horizon dating c.500BC-500AD, the mold-made, incised, and paint-striped hollow figure will still emit a whistling sound by covering the missing leg hole with the fleshy part of the palm and blowing through the hole in the top of her head. She stands with open hands held to her ...click for details

$300.00

There is surprising detail on this 7/8” tall figural pendant (102.53HD) that was cast in copper and surfaced in Pre-Columbian days with a light silver coating. Attributed to the Chimu horizon of Peru, dating c.1000-1400AD, the amuletic character (a dancer or healer?), wearing a breechcloth, stands with legs slightly bent, and his remaining single arm flexed at the elbow with hand extended to the front (the left forearm is missing). A small ring at the top of his head appears to have been used fo ...click for details

Each of the twelve individually priced prehistoric Indian artifacts in this group (AXH66.4, 5, 8, 10, 13, 21, 25, 26, 34, 36, 41, and 44) were once attached to a frame with Elmer’s glue that had been assembled from finds in Louisiana made by the late Dr. Allen Heflin. Included in the group are what I believe to be the following point types: Boggy River Type II, Burkett, Evans, Gary, Marcos, Midland, and Savannah River. Heflin marked all of the points on one side in black ink with the provenance, ...click for details

$900.00

Although these well-preserved and obviously used beaded arm bands (TEH.F1.2) were attached with insoluble glue to a decorative frame by the late Chester Howard, they suffered no damage when removed. A great example of the type with strong, colorful geometric designs, the sinew sewn matched pair is attributed to the Sioux and date to the early 20th century. The untied bands measure about 11 ½” in length by 2 ¼” in width. The pair comes with a small display card, a biographical write-up about Howa ...click for details

$2250.00

This 8” tall grey-ware cylinder vessel (AJC109) is attributed to the Classic Maya dating c.300-900AD. In overall very good condition with a barely noticeable 3” hairline crack from the rim, the vertically positioned incised lines surrounding its body terminate against the base of an encircling panel that portrays the enigmatic, glyph-like image of what may represent the beaked head of the revered vulture. The crack-like feature near the base of the jar does not penetrate its interior, and is onl ...click for details

$600.00

Here’s a fascinating enigma! This carved, 4 ¾” tall, dark greenish black steatite elbow pipe (BWO6) came to its owner as possibly Aztec in origin. In overall very good condition, even with its head glued on (along a simple break) and a number of surface scratches and bruises from repeated handling, this piece has all of the attributes of being hand-made albeit with the possible help of historical period tools. To test the theory of antiquity, the pipe was sent to Cal Howard, authenticator from S ...click for details

$450.00

This earlier 20th century beaded circular bag (TEH.F9.4) is from the collection of the late Chester Howard. Measuring just a bit more than 4 ¼” from top to bottom, round bags of this style were called medallion pouches for the early Indian Peace Medals they were designed to hold. The beadwork is in overall good condition, but the leather itself is rather stiff and has a small tear and hole on its lower backside. It also has some spots of light discoloration on the back where Howard applied glue ...click for details

$11,000.00

The scene of a woman sitting is a breezeway between two ‘cabins’ (RFM42) surrounded by her three pets doesn’t differ significantly from what one might experience in some remote area of Mexico today. Attributed to the Nayarit of West Mexico, this Ixtlan del Rio styled Protoclassic model dates c.100BC-250AD. In overall very good condition, the 6 ½” long plaza is raised on four tapered feet and still retains traces of red and white paint. The largest of the three pups is missing its tail, and there ...click for details

$15,000.00

The gold tube beads and quartz crystal beads in this 22” necklace (97.190HD) are all attributed to the Calima horizon in the El Bolo River of Colombia and date c.100BC-400AD. Possibly originally found together as a group, but no way of being positive. The gold beads, made from hammered, fairly heavy sheet gold and ‘capped’ at the ends by folding, are all in very good to excellent condition and measure up to 5/8” in length. Small contemporary metal beads were used inside the hollow gold tube bead ...click for details
